3 Year Old Program

Description

Every child enters the world ready to learn and wanting to learn. The three's curriculum at the Aurora Co-op nurtures the potential and continuing growth of a child's knowledge and understanding of themselves and their world. It promotes a safe, caring and stimulating environment, where learning flourishes as children have time and opportunities to explore and investigate their world creatively.

The curriculum contributes to the development of the whole child through individual and group activities. Readiness activities are presented through a variety of learning centers. Pre-reading and pre-writing skills are encouraged throughout the curriculum along with opportunities for the child-initiated, teacher-supported play that supports cognitive development and allows a child to develop their imagination and also creativity to new horizons.

Classes for the 3 year old children meet two days a week: Tuesday and Thursday from 9:15am to 11:45am. Children entering the 3 year olds must be 3 by September 30th and toilet trained (wearing regular underwear).

Lori Kachur

Lori Kachur has a degree in Elementary Education from Kent State University. She taught second grade for several years in the Columbus Public Schools.  She holds a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Lori has taught at the Co-op for seven years. She is a mother of three children, and was actively involved in a Co-op program with her children as well. Lori believes parental involvement is very important at an early age. These moments we spend with our children will be "cherished" moments!

Maribeth Will

Maribeth Will graduated with honors in Early Childhood Education from Kent State University in 2005.  She spent a year in Streetsboro City Schools working at the kindergarten and elementary levels.  She also spent a year of her preschool training at the Head Start Program in Windham. During this time, she narrowed her focus to working with children and families in financially impoverished areas and the role environment plays on a preschooler's learning. Her work was highlighted when she was asked to present her course work at the 2004 NAEYC Conference in Anaheim, California. Maribeth has been busy teaching yoga and raising her children in Solon. She believes that it is important to encourage a love of learning through hands-on experiences and a loving, rich environment in which children can grow.
